26-year-old flutist
Aleksandr Haskin won the Jean Fergus First Prize in the 2009
Young Concert Artists International Auditions, where he was also awarded
the Leona Green Award for Winds, the Summis Auspiciis Prize, the Swiss
Global Artistic Foundation Award, the Paramount Theater Prize (VT), and
the Usedom Music Festival Prize. Mr. Haskin will be presented in
recital debuts in New York, sponsored by the Peter Jay Sharp Concert
Prize, and Washington, DC in the 2010-11 Young Concert Artists Series,
as well as in Boston at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
As an orchestral
musician, Mr. Haskin has performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall,
Boston Symphony Hall, the Kennedy Center, Teatro alla Scala in Milan,
Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and the Great Hall of the Moscow
Conservatory. He has participated in various music festivals in the
U.S., England, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Iran, Russia, and Belarus.
Mr. Haskin has already
won top prizes at Competitions including the Penderecki Flute
Competition in 2008 and the International Contemporary Chamber Music
Competition in 2005 – both in Krakow, Poland, the Astana International
Music Competition in Kazakhstan, and the Leonardo DeLorenzo Flute
Competition in Viggiano, Italy.
Hailing from Minsk,
Belarus, Mr. Haskin graduated with a PhD degree from the Tchaikovsky
Conservatory in Moscow, under the tutelage of Alexander Golyshev. He
received career grants from the Guzik Foundation in Moscow and a
scholarship to the Yale University School of Music, where he studied
with Ransom Wilson and won the Woolsey Concerto Competition. Mr. Haskin
is a member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. |
