“…elegant vocal gymnastics…coloratura fit for any joyous ball.”
Mezzo-soprano Megan Moore is making waves as a young artist of versatility and depth. An award-winning opera and concert singer, she was awarded First Prize in the 2020 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was a top prize winner at Gerda Lissner Lieder & Song Competition in 2019. For her appearance as Dorabella in Così fan tutte at The Juilliard School, OperaWire praised her “strength as an actress” and “undeniable sex appeal.” Acclaimed for her “elegant vocal gymnastics” and “rapid fire coloratura” in Rossini interpretations, Megan’s signature roles include Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and the title role in La Cenerentola.
2021 promises major debuts for Megan. The first, at the Juilliard School, will be the sorceress Medea in Handel’s Teseo, a tour-de-force role that will showcase her trademark vocal agility. In the summer, Megan will make her debut with Santa Fe Opera as a member of the prestigious Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program for Singers, where she will sing the role of Ino in the world premiere of The Lord of Cries by John Corigliano and librettist Mark Adamo.
On the concert stage, Megan’s art song repertoire spans the genre, from German Lieder and French Mélodie to Scandinavian song and new music by living American composers. She is passionate about using song as way to connect with audiences, and this led her to co-found LYNX in 2015. LYNX is an art song initiative whose mission is to amplify diverse voices through newly commissioned song, and to link communities through inclusive concerts and education programming.
At the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Megan was awarded concert prizes at the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, Friends of Music Concerts, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Prize, and Tri-I Noon Recitals.
Megan is currently completing her Artist Diploma at The Juilliard School, where she is a student of Elizabeth Bishop. She has also studied with Manny Perez, Edith Wiens, Carol Webber, and Alison Acord, as well as at the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie, Eastman School of Music, and Miami University.
